Clifford R. Coldren, the developer and general partner of Brookline, has more than 40 years of experience in the adult housing/care industry. In 1955, Mr. Coldren's family founded Brookline Manor Convalescent Rest Home in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania. In 1966, he purchased the family business and became the administrator, developing the 24-bed facility into a 128-bed, multi-level care community.

Seeing the need to offer older adults living in Centre County, Pennsylvania, a sensible alternative to living alone in and maintaining a large home, Mr. Coldren formed Brookline Associates. By the spring of 1983, plans for a personal care facility, The Inn, were underway. The accommodations for 70 guests included six independent-living apartments. In the spring of 1987, an additional 27 apartments were constructed and joined with the original six to form what is now Windsong Apartments.
Several months later, Coldren Associates was formed, with the intent to build and operate a skilled nursing home. The Fairways at Brookline, a 120-bed, long-term facility opened its doors the very next year. This state-of-the-art facility was designed to provide 24-hour nursing and care and has grown to include comprehensive rehabilitation services and sub-acute care accommodations.

With the completion of PineCastle in 2003, Brookline's assisted living offerings had grown to include private suites with greater independence in secure surroundings. Continuing the trend in growth, in 2004 The Terrace at Brookline began offering specialized assisted-living services for individuals with care needs relating to Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. When Brookline was initially developed, the goal of the general partner and investment team was to provide above-standard accommodations, services and care in a relaxed, residential atmosphere, a place where any one of them would wish to live or to have a loved one live, if necessary.

To this day, Mr. Coldren's commitment to excellence and quality care remains the guiding charter in the growth and success of Brookline in State College, Pennsylvania. The key to this success lies in the ability to satisfy the needs of our residents for security, independence, trust and sense of personal self-worth.
